In this practical hands-on workshop you will
be able to recreate ancient technologies -
building your own pit forge & general forge work eg.
charcoal making & fire-lighting skills using your
own hand-forged flint & steel set. The
forges are based on those dating back as far as the second
millennium BC, but they are no less effective than a fully
equipped modern smithy. You
will be able to choose different items to make, such as candlesticks,
toasting forks and even a rudimentary knife. Best of all, you
will learn the principles and practice of blacksmithing with
a master craftsman.
The course fee includes all equipment. Evening meals are
also provided, but you will need to bring your own breakfasts
and lunches.

we reckon the nearest you’ll
get to meeting Gandalf, such is his capacity for wizardry!
Location: The course will be held in a beautiful woodland
setting near Bovey Tracey, on the edge of Dartmoor, in Devon.
