DANGEROUS WEEKEND FOR FAMILIES

July 9-11
Cost: £225 parent & child, £50 2nd parent, £25 2nd/3rd child

This weekend for families is along the same theme as the one for boys but this one is open to everyone! Get dirty, mess about with fires, use sharp tools, sleep outdoors, eat weird things & have some wicked fun!

The syllabus this weekend sets the participants up with enjoyable, achievable tasks in a convivial camp atmosphere. Expect to learn some amazing new things, have a good craic around the campfire, make new friendships and spend meaningful family time, out in a beautiful wildwood setting.

Based on a highly successful blend of nature awareness and bushcraft, this course makes the most of our interest and curiosity for the natural world. The aim is to give you new skills, to deepen your relationship to nature and breed a new confidence to continue to discover it for yourselves. Most of all, this programme aims to deliver a hugely enjoyable experience to all.

The activities on this camp are most suitable for kids aged 6yrs and older.

We will provide evening meals and a simple breakfast as well as teas and coffee, but you will need to bring food for your own lunches. Cooking utensils, big pots and pans will be provided and there is a large campfire, plus a small gas stove for back up.

Course Leader - Martin Prothero
The course will be taught by artist and naturalist Martin Prothero, whose professional background requires him to spend considerable time outdoors interpreting the tracks, signs and language of animals. His artist residencies and projects have gained him an international reputation as a skilled outdoorsman and a passionate advocate for the natural world.

Location: This camp will take place at a beautiful wild woodland near Bovey Tracey, on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon.

The wildwood is a beautiful and secluded spot, full of wildlife. There is little permanent infrastructure here so the duration of the camp will very much be spent in the open air. We do, however, have plenty of weather-proof sheltered areas for when it rains.

For 'bathroom' facilities, there is a compost toilet, and a woodland shower facility. There is also a magical stream that flows through the woods that can be used for energizing dips!
