A mischevious weekend to get up to all the naughty things
you are not allowed to do at home! Get dirty, mess about with
fires, use sharp tools, sleep outdoors, eat weird things and
have some wicked fun!
The syllabus this weekend sets the participants up with enjoyable,
achievable tasks in a convivial camp atmosphere. Expect to
learn some amazing new things, have a good craic around the
campfire, make new friendships and spend meaningful ‘mother & daughter’ time
(or aunt/niece etc), out in a beautiful wildwood setting. There
will also be time for some storytelling.
Based on a highly successful blend of nature awareness and
bushcraft, this course makes the most of our interest and curiosity
for the natural world. The aim is to give you new skills, to
deepen your relationship to nature and breed a new confidence
to continue to discover it for yourselves. Most of all, this
programme aims to deliver a hugely enjoyable experience to
all.
Bushcraft is the art and science of living from the land.
It demands that we open all of our senses to pay the closest
attention to the world around us. The activities may include
fire by friction, shelter building, woodcraft, plants for food/resources,
natural cordage.
Nature awareness is the study of wildlife and the practice
of getting really close to it. Using a combination of fieldcraft
skills we’ll study tracks and signs, explore sensory
awareness activities, and use the dawn and the night to locate
and observe wildlife.
Evening meals and teas and coffee are included, but you will
need to bring your own breakfasts and lunches. Cooking utensils,
big pots and pans will be provided and there is a large campfire,
plus a small gas stove for back up. 2-3 person tents or a
communal tipi tent are available if required.
This camp will take place at a woodland site near Moretonhampstead,
Dartmoor.
