The coastline of this country has a rich
harvest of food material. Our ancestors would have relied upon
the seashore to provide a major portion of their diet, especially
during the lean times of the year. Travelling by sea kayak
we will explore some more inaccessible and secret places to
find the edible seaweeds, molluscs, fish and coastal plants
that are abundant in the clean and clear waters of southern
Cornwall. We will prepare a diverse menu of seashore foods
using a number of different cooking methods.
This trip is suitable for
all levels of experience. There will be instruction for beginners
and more experienced canoeists will enjoy the chance to practise
their skills and take the opportunity of travelling by canoe.
Carrying in our boats everything we need, we will have 2 days
to explore some of the stunning South Cornish coast. Real experts
will guide this adventure, our high instructor to participant
ratio allowing the journey to suit individual needs.
We
are likely to see some of the rich variety of coastal wildlife
including seals, dolphins and many sea birds. Nights will be
spent wild camping with evenings around the campfire in the
company of storyteller, Spindle Wayfarer!
