This camp is a springtime immersion in the patterns and rhythms
of the natural world at the most beautiful time of year. Learn
some tracking skills, cultivate a deeper awareness of nature
and get closer to wildlife. Real quality time for families
in our bluebell wildwood.
Wildlife tracking is a practical skill that can be mastered
by anyone with an open mind and a willingness to learn. You
might be curious to make more sense of the tracks and signs
left by animals in the outdoors, or perhaps interested to get
closer to this country’s wonderfully rich abundance of
wildlife.
Used for hunting prey and to escape predators in ancient times,
tracking was vital for survival for our ancestors, but it also
has a valuable place in the repertoire of today's outdoor enthusiast.
For the amateur naturalist some knowledge of tracking can greatly
improve your likelihood of getting close to wildlife.
This course will lead you through the basics of wildlife tracking
and introduce many of the deeper skills, enabling you to find
the places that animals are most likely to be, and to increase
your chance of having very real and close encounters. Our wild
woodland is abundant in wildlife including fallow deer and
badgers.
The course will be structured to enable us to learn together
at a relaxed pace allowing plenty of time for practise with
some periods of theory. Skills learned now will remain with
you all your life.
